  1. Falling

    November 11, 2013 by admin

    I’ve fallen for fall.
The drive along the Long Island Espressway to the East End has spun out of control like an episode of HR Pufnstuf. The colors of the leaves are exploding in purples, yellows, reds, burnt orange that it’s making me want to shuffle along and do a jig with a tiny talking flute in my pocket. Yes, the pool is covered, the lounge chairs have been put away and an appointment has been made with the dermatologist to laser away the dark spots, but it’s just magical this time of year. We even had a few wild turkey in the yard and while I did give the big one a side-eye with Thanksgiving around the corner, I’m too lazy to pluck that thing. Besides, I enjoy watching them do their thing too much.

  3. Love and Art in Venice

    November 5, 2013 by admin

I’ve been to Venice many times throughout my life and on occasion, alone. Venice is a romantic city especially at night, after many of the tourists leave. During the day I like to just pick up a panini and walk the sites (Rialto Bridge, Piazza San Marco, the Dorsoduro, the Guggenheim Museum). At night though I like to splurge so I’ll start off at Caffe Florian (inside so I can stare at the frescos) and enjoy a beautifully handcrafted martini and then head to a wonderful dinner accompanied by perfect red wine. This trip, I got to experience it all with my love. Hand in hand, we curved the alleyways and crossed the bridges to our favorite galleries, shops, museums, cafes….I was in heaven. Truffle heaven to boot.

The Peggy Guggenheim Museum….my favorite collection of contemporary work in the world.
